What are Off Ridge Vents? Off Ridge Vents are Hooded Openings that are located about 2ft from the ridge or peak of the roof. At a glance they look like rectangular openings on the roof. They are about 4ft long by 31/2 " wide. They are installed to assist ventilation in the attic. There are two kinds. Flat Off Ridge Vents and Rounded Off Ridge Vents. What does the WIP Kits do? The WIP Kits, once installed, will stop water driven by air from getting into the attic and also allow the hot air in the attic to escape. Will the "WIP Kit" work on both Flat and Rounded Off Ridge Vents? NO The Kit was designed to work only on the FLAT OFF RIDGE VENTS. Who can install the KIT? While the kits are designed to be easily installed it is highly recommended that the installation of WIP Kits be done by a professional roofer or someone accustomed to working on roofs. Please read disclaimer.* What hold the Kits in place? There are a total of 34 Stainless steel screws ( 28 - 3/4" and 6 -11/2") that holds each Kit together and in place. Do the WIP Kits ever need to be taken off? NO. The WIP Kits are permanent installations. Will the kits prevent the release of heat from the attic? No. While these kits will stop water from being blown into the attic they also allow hot air to be released from the attic keeping the attic cooler. What colors are available? Currently only black. Can the Off Roof Vent Kits be painted? This is not recommended because some paints may cause damage to the Polypropylene parts and make the unit susceptible to weather damage. Will these Kits stop all the leaks on the Roof? NO. The WIP Kits will stop water driven by air such as in hurricanes or thunder storms from getting in the attic through the off ridge vents. If there are leaks elsewhere on the roof these kits will not help. How do I know what sort of vents I have? While there are different types of vents, generally you can tell by the shape. If you are still unsure, ask a roofing professional for assistance. How Long does it take to install? The WIP Kits are designed for easy installation, it should take a professional roofer about 15 minutes per vent to install. Where are the WIP Kits made? All components are made and manufactured in the United States by specially designated quality manufacturers. What are the kits made of? The vent planes are made of durable plastic, specifically a Polypropylene With talc added in a special formula with added UV protection. The metal brackets are made of 18 ga. galvanized sheet metal powder coated black and the holding screws are made of stainless steel oxidized black. Is my information safe? Because we are sure of our product TR Design Group provides a 10 year warranty, provided the kits are properly installed by a qualified professional. How long does it take to ship?
